  • Webmaster: PBS The Business Channel

In my position as Webmaster for PBS The Business Channel my primary duty was ensure that TBC's public website was up and functioning in good order.

My duties also included analyzing visitor statistics, creating graphics using Photoshop to support an already established look and feel and hand-coding HTML and JavaScript for additions to the site, working the the Manager of Online Services to assist in supervising contractors to verify that user interface and back-end functionality specifications were fulfilled on time, and working with the marketing and sales departments to align the content of the site with The Business Channel's corporate strategy. The Business Channel launched their new website on February 18, 2000.

Because The Business Channel was a distance learning provider, a large volume of our customer service inquiries came to us through the website. As Webmaster I was responsible for making sure those questions and trouble reports were answered or routed to the appropriate department in a timely manner.

One of my first projects at The Business Channel was to put some basic processes and services into place for our customers. I created the graphics in Photoshop and implemented the information architecture for this guide so it reflected the site's structure and provided easily accessible answers to questions in the areas of inquiry which had the highest call frequency for our customer service staff.
